Social Enterprise
The college students run a number of different social enterprise projects including a community cafe, a college cafe, a tuck shop, car wash and making veg boxes.
Tuck shop
Once a week at a break time students run a tuck shop for the rest of the college and school as part of their social enterprise. The process started with the students doing some market research looking around local shops at prices of different snacks and drinks. They then decided what types of snacks they would like to provide. This has changed over time to accommodate dietary requirements like gluten and dairy free products. Students go shopping to get the stock needed for tuck shop, they are encouraged to be as independent as possible when out in the community making choices for themselves, communicating with the staff in the shops and using their money skills to budget and pay for goods. It is then the responsibility of the students to sort the products out into different categories and prepare the trolley ready to take it around the college and school. Tuck shop has grown and helped the other students learn how to make a transaction for something.
Farm shop- Veg boxes
Each week students are supported to carefully shop for and create these wonderful boxes, from building the boxes themselves to researching easy and tasty recipes. The students take orders from staff and families of students each week, preparing the boxes and ingredients, delivering them and taking payment. The enterprise teaches the students invaluable work and life skills.

Car Wash
Students work one morning a week cleaning cars. Students are responsible for collecting customer keys and working in two teams, one cleaning the inside of the vehicle and the other the outside. Students clean the cars to a high standard and feedback encourages the team to keep to those standards. Students are learning to be professional, responsible and safe with the vehicle and the equipment. At the end, the keys are returned to the customers and pay with either cash or card. Students have learned that they clean the car and earn for money which is spent on supplies and an end-of-term fun activity.
